Welcome to West Drayton Mountain Bikes - promoters of the Bucks On and Off-Road Sportives and organisers of Black Park XC racing

Bucks Road Sportive : 3rd March 2019

First of all hope everyone enjoyed this years Bucks Road Sportive, the weather gods were not on our side this year with the wind and the rain, we had hoped for better weather this year having moved the event day forward a week but as everyone knows last weekend was glorious so in hindsight should have stuck with the anniversary date.
Clearly the conditions on the day hit numbers with over 70 non starters, so those that did make it a big thank you for braving the conditions, although a bit damp and windy it certainly could have been worse. A big well done to those that seemed oblivious to the weather and achieved the Gold Standard.

Driving round the course collecting the arrows I only noticed one that had been blown around making it only just visible but all the rest were still in situ.

We are hoping to have photographs of the event up on our facebook page soon and also there will be a link on the event website. We have a few photo’s up on FB and the rest will be loaded up later tonight .Apologies if we missed some of you this was due to the van being required to rescue a rider who suffered a mechanical failure.

Photographs of the event can be found on the following facebook page later

Later on in the year around the end of August and early September we will be holding a gravel/CX sportive around a similar area, full details will be announced soon and hopefully we will see some of you again at that event. We are also promoting 3 crits at the Hillingdon cct on Saturdays in March, a series of Tuesday night crits at the Hillingdon cct from April to Aug with racing for all senior categories and have a Summer evening cyclo cross event planned for the 15th August. If you wish to have more details of any of these events then drop me a line or check out the BC handbook.

For any one looking for a friendly club why not think about joining the West Drayton multiple bike club who run both on and off road events, train and organise social rides/trips, once again both on and off road.

As always a big thanks to all that contributed to the running of the event, far to many people to mention by name. If you have any suggestions to improve the event or comments on the distance/amount of climbing/would like more hills/less hills then please feel free to let me know and hopefully see you all on the start line next year .

Yours in sport
